Abstract

Customary Law Marriage is indigenous and one of the early recognized forms of marriage inworld and for the purpose of work I shall limit myself to Nigeria. This due to the fact that Nigeria is a multylinguistic nation –or ethnic society consisting of various language, cultures, customs and traditions. The practice of customary marriage is absolutely different between in the various clans, communities ‘and localities. This work is look into the exposition of the basic indices of customary law as it affects customary marriage in Nigerian as a nation. In the view of this – tradition, beliefs, Legislations, Academic materials, Case Laws and Internet Sources are made reference to with the view to provide a concise overview of the intricacies and dynamics within the customary law marriages in Nigeria.
