Poor waste management in rural areas poses significant environmental and public health risks due to inadequate disposal systems, open dumping, and burning of waste. This study evaluates the effectiveness of community based waste management interventions, including waste segregation, composting, and recycling initiatives, in improving waste disposal practices in rural communities. A mixed-methods approach was used, combining household surveys (n=150), waste audits, and field observations in three rural villages. Statistical analysis revealed 50% reduction in open waste burning and a 35% increase in composting adoption post-intervention. The findings highlight the importance of community engagement, education, and local government support in promoting sustainable waste management practices. Recommendations include policy enforcement, infrastructure development, and behavioral change campaigns to enhance rural waste management systems.
